Manila. Services in the Philippines are preparing for flash floods, landslides and tidal waves possible in connection with the approaching powerful typhoon "Kalmegi" which brings strong winds and torrential rains, reported AFP.
Typhoon with maximum wind speed of 160 km per hour is expected to hit the northeastern side of the main island of Luzon around sunset, and residents are preparing for the worst, according to local authorities.
At least three towns in the path of the storm were previously evacuated. Authorities warn other vulnerable areas to flooding and landslides. In coastal areas can form tidal waves with a height of 2 meters.
